Pneumatic Three-Way Ball Valve with Handwheel Override

This type of three-way ball valve is used in piping systems where the direction of flow needs to be changed or distributed between different lines. Instead of installing several valves in the pipeline, a single three-way valve can handle the switching or mixing of the media.

The valve in the picture is fitted with a pneumatic actuator and a manual handwheel override. During normal operation the actuator drives the valve using compressed air. Once connected to a control system, the valve can open or close automatically according to the control signal from the plant.

A handwheel mechanism is integrated with the actuator assembly. This allows the valve to be operated manually if the air supply is interrupted or when maintenance work is carried out on the system. In many industrial installations this manual override is considered an important safety feature.

The valve body has three ports and flanged ends for connection to the pipeline. Depending on the process requirement, the internal ball may be manufactured in either L-port or T-port configuration. This determines how the flow is redirected inside the valve.

The ball and seats are machined to ensure proper contact when the valve is closed. In practice this helps maintain stable shut-off and limits leakage during operation.

Body material is normally carbon steel or stainless steel, selected according to pressure, temperature and the type of media handled by the pipeline.
